To mark his seventh death anniversary, the human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman has saluted the late presidential candidate Faisal bin Shamlan as a pioneer of change.

Twenty-three Nobel laureates and global leaders have urged the UN Security Council (UNSC) members to urgently put the Rohingya issue on its agenda and called upon the UN secretary-general to visit Myanmar as a priority.

Peace- and women’s rights activist Tawakkol Karman today said the road to a sustainable peace and national reconciliation in Yemen passes through several steps topped by disbanding the militia, bringing its leaders and the deposed president Ali Saleh on trial.

The activist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman has cautioned Turkey against entering into a settlement as to the situation in Syria without ensuring the cease-fire across the country and that the armed opposition will not be exposed to shelling or attacks by Russia and the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

Proposals for peace in Yemen, which do not provide clearly for a trial of war criminals, particularly ousted President Ali Saleh and the Houthi group leader Abdul-Malik Al Houthi, are only conspiratorial attempts that prolong the war, peace- and women’s human rights activist Tawakkol Karman said.
