Hello everybody. Salamu alaykum—peace be upon all of you. I'm so happy to be here with you and honored to be a member of the expert committee for the International Children's Peace Prize.

I would say fear is natural, but silence is really dangerous. Silence allows injustice to persist. When I started my journey in defending human rights, expression rights, and women's rights—when I founded my organization “Women Journalists Without Chains,” and began the peaceful revolution against the dictator—I knew the risks. I faced threats, intimidation, and even violence.

The moderator: What do you think needs to happen to stop the violence in the Middle East and foster peaceful dialogue? Where do you see hope for progress?

Thank you. I am deeply grateful for the invitation to be part of this important conference in Portugal, a nation that has witnessed profound change and become a beacon of resistance against tyranny. Portugal's Carnation Revolution stands as a testament to the power of people to rise up and reclaim their future, to overthrow dictatorship without violence, and to rebuild a nation on the foundations of freedom, democracy, and justice.
