Human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman has strongly condemned the killing of Sheikh Saleh Hantous, a respected moderate religious leader from Al-Salfiyah district in Raimah governorate, at the hands of the Houthi militia.
In a statement published on her official Facebook page, Karman denounced what she described as the Houthi militia’s ongoing crimes against Yemenis. She stated that the group continues to display an unparalleled capacity for criminality, marked by repeated violations against the lives, property, and security of the Yemeni people.
Karman condemned the siege and shelling of the nearly eighty-year-old scholar's home, followed by his extrajudicial killing, which reflect the Houthis’ utter disregard for ethics and national responsibility.
She denounced the targeting of peaceful citizens as a terrorist crime, stressing that history consistently shows the inevitable downfall of such groups, regardless of how long they persist.
