The militias of Houthis and ousted president Ali Saleh have largely persisted in destroying childhood in Yemen with generous support of Iran, said human rights advocate and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman.
In her speech at Children Summit of Nobel Laureates and Global Leaders held in New Delhi, Karman explained, "hundreds of thousands of children have been thrown into refugee and recruitment camps while tens of thousands have been victims of the war waged by the fascist coup, which has gone too far in invading cities and undermining Yemen’s sate by force.”
She pointed out that the situation is even worse in Syria where the war led by Bashar al-Assad against his own people has severely damaged childhood, noting, "The number of victims has reached millions and is still on the rise because of the regime's obsession to commit more massacres and criminality."
"It would be difficult to talk about children's rights in the absence of human rights and in light of the overwhelming corruption resulted from looting resources and wealth of peoples by rulers."
The human rights activist concluded by saying that the global struggle to ensure the rights and freedoms and for the good governance’s standards is the only way that we have to follow for children's rights.
