Accompanied with Iranian colleague Shirin Ebadi and on behalf of Nobel Women’s Initiative, Yemen’s human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman visited on Wednesday Syrian refugee camp in the Jordanian capital of Amman.
During the visit of Zaatari Refugee Camp, Karman said she came, along with Iranian human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi, to sense the needs of the Syrian refugees, stressing their solidarity with them and calling for the provision of all needs and rights for them.
Karman appealed to the world to carry out its responsibilities and fulfill its obligations towards sufferings of peoples aspiring for freedom and dignity as well as to support Syrian refugees, provide them with decent living conditions, work to bring them back to home and protect them from the oppression of Bashar Al Assad's tyrannical regime.
For her part, Iran's Shirin Ebadi said, "we came here to hear voices of refugees, convey them to the world and appeal to it to stand up for them and not to leave Syrian refugees alone,” pointing out that she has personally learned from the visit how important to live safely.
Zaatari Refugee Camp’s manager, Colonel Nawriz Hakouz, gave a detailed explanation about the reality of the services offered by official authorities and international organizations to refugees through provision of health, education and other services as well as about programs and activities carried out by these entities.
