Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights advocate, Tawakkol Karman, will participate in the 14th Social Business Day 2024 conference, scheduled to be held from June 27 to 28, 2024, in Manila, Philippines.
Karman will deliver a keynote speech at the event, which is hosted by the Yunus Center and the NWTF (Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation). In her address, she is expected to discuss the critical role of social business in steering humanity away from destructive practices and towards more sustainable and ethical paths.
During the conference, Karman is also anticipated to emphasize the importance of creating a positive impact on societies. She will highlight the need for sustainability and address the challenges posed by ongoing conflicts, advocating for economic models that contribute to building a healthier and more sustainable future.
The conference aims to enhance the vision of its organizers by striving to build a world of "three zeros": zero net carbon emissions, zero wealth concentration to end poverty, and zero unemployment by fully unleashing entrepreneurship. This annual global gathering, organized by the Yunus Center, underscores the transformative power of social business to redirect humanity away from self-destructive practices.
Under the theme "Social Business: An Exit Route from the Current Self-Destructive Civilization," the event will focus on promoting social and environmental responsibility, fostering sustainability, and tackling global challenges. The conference program includes keynotes, workshops, and forums designed to inspire actions towards achieving the three zeros.
Participants are encouraged to contribute their insights and ideas to help chart a roadmap for a more sustainable and compassionate future. By bringing together thought leaders, activists, and social entrepreneurs, the Social Business Day 2024 conference aims to catalyze significant change and drive the global community towards a more equitable and sustainable world.
