Iran successfully diverts global sympathy from Gaza, says Tawakkol Karman
Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, has expressed a firm belief in Iran's significant responsibility for the extensive suffering and loss of life witnessed in Syria, Yemen, and Iraq.
She underlined the tragic reality that millions of individuals have lost their lives as a result of the ongoing conflicts in these countries. Furthermore, Karman pointed out that Iran's recent attacks on Israel have effectively diverted global attention from expressing solidarity with the people of Gaza, thereby exacerbating their already dire situation.
In a statement shared on her official Facebook page, Tawakkol Karman responded to Iran's declaration of targeting Israel with missiles and drones, asserting, "The immense number of victims and displaced individuals in Syria, Yemen, and Iraq prevent me from finding any satisfaction with Iran or expressing gratitude, even momentarily or through a single word."
Through her official account on the "X" platform, Karman emphasized that Iran's deceptive attacks have successfully shifted the international focus away from empathizing with the plight of Gaza. She further underscored Iran and its allies' responsibility for the large-scale loss of life and displacement of millions of Syrians. Karman also drew attention to the similar tragic circumstances unfolding in Iraq and Yemen.
