Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has condemned the Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia for its violent suppression of women-led protests in the southern Yemeni city of Aden.
In a post on her official Facebook page, Karman denounced the attack as an act of “bullying and terrorism” and called on women’s rights advocates around the world to raise their voices in protest.
Karman conveyed her outrage regarding the assault, repression, and detention of women who peacefully protested for their rights. She implied that the events in Aden were not only a violation of Yemeni women's rights but also a blatant act of aggression, highlighting the oppressive nature of the STC militia.
She warned the STC leadership that such repressive actions would backfire, potentially fueling broader resistance and revolutionary momentum throughout the country. Karman asserted that terror and repression would not silence the free, but rather escalate the determination of Yemenis to resist tyranny and demand justice.
