Nobel Women Urge the World to Stand by Syrian Refugees
In Amman, Jordan, Tawakkol Karman, along with her Iranian colleague Shirin Ebadi, representing the Nobel Women Initiative, visited and observed the situation of Syrian refugees.
Karman, during her visit to the Zaatari refugee camp, stated, "We are here to assess the needs of Syrian refugees," emphasizing their solidarity and demands for the provision of all necessary services, rights, and needs.
Karman called on the world to fulfill its responsibilities and obligations in the face of the suffering of peoples yearning for freedom and dignity, to support Syrian refugees, provide them with the requirements for a dignified life, and work towards their return to their homeland, protecting them from the brutal regime of Bashar al-Assad.
Shirin Ebadi, for her part, stated, "We are here in Zaatari to listen to the voices of refugees and convey them to the world, urging it to stand by them and send a clear message that we should not abandon Syrian refugees." She also noted the lesson she had learned about the importance of living in safety.
The camp’s director, Colonel Norz Hakoz, provided a detailed explanation of the services provided by various official entities and international organizations to the refugees, including health, education, and other services, as well as the activities of national institutions and international organizations.
