Regional Escalation Condemned: Attacks Deemed War Crimes
Human rights advocate and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman has issued a strong condemnation of escalating military actions across the Gulf region and Iran, denouncing attacks on civilian infrastructure and warning of grave violations of international law.
In a sharply worded post on here official Facebook page, Karman condemned what she described as Iranian strikes targeting vital civilian facilities, including ports and desalination plants in Kuwait, as well as other attacks affecting civilian sites in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. She characterized such actions as “full-fledged war crimes,” stressing that they cannot be justified under any circumstances.
Karman emphasized that targeting essential infrastructure—particularly facilities linked to water supply and civilian livelihoods—constitutes a serious breach of international humanitarian law, which strictly prohibits attacks on non-military objects and infrastructure indispensable to the survival of civilian populations.
At the same time, she expressed unequivocal condemnation of what she described as “brutal” military actions carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.
