Tawakkol Karman Calls on the Security Council to Take a Stance on the Genocide Being Waged by the Syrian Regime Against Aleppo
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman called on the United Nations Security Council to take a stand against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and the genocide being perpetrated against the city of Aleppo.
She emphasized the need to stop the terrorism supported by the Iranian mullahs and their militias.
In a post on her Facebook page, Karman expressed her profound sadness and outrage at the ongoing genocide in Aleppo, which she described as a scenario seemingly agreed upon, where those assisting the tyrants seem indifferent to the suffering and lives of innocent people.
Karman explained that the world’s abandonment of its responsibilities to protect civilians who are subjected to criminal warfare under international law sends a wrong message to the murderers that they can commit crimes against humanity with impunity. This contributes to undermining confidence in justice and humanitarian solidarity.
She also urged Russia not to get further involved in supporting the criminal Syrian regime, reminding the Russians that Arabs will not forget those who stand against their right to freedom and dignity.
Karman called on governments concerned with Syrian blood to coordinate efforts to pressure the Assad regime to stop its crimes against the Syrian people and to support their right to freedom from corruption and tyranny. She urged the world’s populations and human rights organizations to act in order to lift the injustice from Aleppo and the other Syrian cities facing unprecedented brutality.
