Tawakkol Karman praises UN for including Israel in shame list
Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights advocate Tawakkol Karman has commended the United Nations for its decision to add Israel to the "List of Shame." This list includes countries and entities responsible for grievous harm to children in conflict zones.
On her official Facebook page, Karman expressed her approval, stating, "I applaud this decision, which was long overdue." She emphasized the importance of holding accountable those who cause suffering to innocent children in areas of conflict.
The United Nations' decision to include Israel on the blacklist stems from reliable reports and documented incidents highlighting the significant harm inflicted on children during the Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip. The decision was made based on the sufficient and conclusive available evidence of the harm caused to children in Gaza.
The "List of Shame" highlights those involved in killing, mutilating, sexually assaulting, kidnapping, or recruiting children, as well as preventing aid from reaching them and targeting schools and hospitals. The inclusion of Israel underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for international scrutiny and action.
