Human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Tawakkol Karman, has embarked on a journey to South Africa to partake in the highly anticipated PeaceJam South Africa 2023 Youth Conference. Scheduled for Friday, October 13, 2023,
the event will feature a series of lectures by Karman, who is recognized for her unwavering commitment to promoting human rights, freedom, and democracy.
In an effort to provide a glimpse into her upcoming presentations, Tawakkol Karman took to her official Facebook page to outline the key themes she plans to address. Among her foremost concerns is the condemnation of any acts that result in the loss of civilian lives, with a particular emphasis on the vulnerability of women and children. Furthermore, Karman will passionately advocate for an immediate cessation of the ongoing conflict, while simultaneously urging for the release of all detainees, prisoners, and kidnappers involved.
During her anticipated speeches, Tawakkol Karman intends to underscore the significance of holding the Israeli occupation and the apartheid wall accountable for their role in hindering the establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state. By emphasizing this responsibility, she aims to shed light on the numerous wars and tragedies that have transpired as a result.
Additionally, Karman will emphasize the pressing need to lift the longstanding blockade imposed on Gaza, which has led to severe shortages of water and electricity. She will draw attention to the fact that such measures are no longer employed by any party involved in conflicts, except for Israel, highlighting the urgent humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region.
Central to her message will be the assertion that the ultimate solution to the ongoing conflict, the perpetuation of wars, and the occurrence of massacres lies in the establishment of a Palestinian state. Karman contends that this solution must align with international agreements and garner consent from both Palestinians and Israelis.
