Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has issued a warning about the dangers of creating militias outside national armies.
Karman cited the case of the Wagner militias in Russia and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, both of which were created by their respective leaders outside of official military structures.
In her Facebook post, Karman highlighted how the Wagner militias had emerged as the primary victors in Russia following the Wagner rebellion and warned that they could pose a potential threat to the stability of the state.
She likened these militias to a time bomb that could explode at any moment, calling attention to the risks associated with creating such groups outside of national armies.
Karman warned that such actions could ultimately lead to the undermining of the state and harm to their own countries.
She emphasized the need for leaders to prioritize the stability and welfare of their nations over their personal interests and avoid creating situations that could lead to destabilization and harm.
