Yemeni activist Samira Al-Houri and her son Ahmed Al-Halili have reportedly been forcibly disappeared in Saudi Arabia for over 13 months, said Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights advocate Tawakkol Karman.
Karman noted that Saudi intelligence services kidnapped Al-Houri and her son from their apartment in Riyadh on April 17, 2021, shortly after her son arrived from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.
Karman accused Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of being responsible for their enforced disappearance, calling him a "war criminal." She said the case was part of a broader "criminal policy" by the Saudi government towards Yemen.
Al-Houri had reportedly fled oppression by the Houthi rebels in Yemen before her disappearance in Saudi Arabia. However, Saudi authorities have not commented on the fate of Al-Houri and her son or responded to requests for information about their situation.
