Tawakkol Karman mourns death of Yemen's poet and writer Al-Maqaleh
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, has mourned the death of Yemen’s greatest intellect and most prominent poet Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Maqaleh at the age of 85.
In a statement of condolence on her official Facebook page, Tawakkol Karman wrote: "I condolence myself and the Yemeni people for the death of one of Yemen's greatest figure and creator, that is, the greatest poet, critic and researcher Dr. Abdulaziz al-Maqaleh."
Al-Maqaleh has contributed to preserving the national memory by documenting the history of the national movement, and highlighting inspiring aspects of the Yemeni people's struggle against the imamate, she explained.
Al-Maqaleh was a special creative case, not only in Yemen, but also on the Arab level, she added, noting that he lived concerned with culture, literature and Yemen.
