The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, has mourned the death of the cleric, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Qahtan, who died today, Wednesday, at the age of 87, after suffering from illness in the city of Taiz, southwest of Yemen.
In a message of condolence shared on her official Facebook page, Tawakkol Karman wrote: "I offer my condolences to myself and all our people on the death of Sheikh Abdul Rahman Qahtan, and also to all his family members, students, companions and lovers."
Sheikh Qahtan, who was born in the village of Al-Asrum in Yemen, was considered one of the most prominent clerics in Yemen, as well as among social, political and cultural figures well known throughout the country.
