The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, is going to participate tomorrow, Tuesday, in an international conference at the invitation of the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
The conference will be held under the title “Women and Peace Officials in the Middle East and North Africa: Leveraging Leadership” and will be organized by NATO’s Middle East and North Africa Division, in cooperation with the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Women, Peace and Security, and the Center for Strategic Guidance.
Tawakkol Karman is scheduled to give a keynote speech during the conference, in addition to a conversation with the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security, Irene Fellin.
On the sidelines of the event, two panel discussions will be held, namely "The Security and Protection of Women Peacebuilders and Defenders of Human Rights" and "The Role of Women in Politics in the Middle East and North Africa".
