Nobel laureate welcomes Angelina Jolie's visit to Yemen
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, has welcomed the visit of UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie to Yemen, expressing her hope that the visit will be crowned with success.
“Welcome to Yemen, the country that is plagued with foreign actors’ domination and their affiliated militias’ barbarism”, Tawakkol Karman wrote on her official Facebook page, addressing Angelina Jolie.
She added: “I hope that your visit and relevant efforts will be crowned with success. I am also hopeful that you, as a UNHCR goodwill ambassador and one of the world’s top stars, will successfully draw the world's attention to the tragedy experienced by Yemenis in general and by the displaced who are living under extremely poor conditions in particular, as a consequence of the war.”
“Once again, welcome to this country with a long and rich history. Undoubtedly, a day will come when it will be back on its feet,” Karman concluded.
