Appointment of female PM in Tunisia aims only at legitimizing coup, Mrs. Karman says
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, said that Tunisian President Kais Saied's appointment of a weak, inexperienced, incompetent woman without powers as a prime minister is aimed at legitimizing the coup, noting empowerment of women can never be achieved on the ruins of democracy.
Insisting on monopolizing the three executive, legislative and judicial powers, Tunisian President Kais Saied has appointed a very weak female PM who is unknown and lacks experience, independent opinion and decision-making ability, Mrs. Karman wrote on her official Facebook page.
She added that an appointment of a weak, inexperienced and incompetent woman stripped of all powers as the head of the government to legitimize the coup and the overthrow of the Tunisian democracy is another major violation against women.
The Nobel laurate also pointed out that empowerment of women can never be achieved on the ruins of democracy because it would be only false empowerment and a big lie.
