Tomorrow (Thursday), Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist Tawakkol Karman is going to take part in the opening of the Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS) at the invitation of former UN Secretary-General, who is also the chairman of the Global Commission on Adaptation, Ban Ki-moon.
In addition to Tawakkol Karman, the online summit will be also participated by the holders of the Nobel Prize in Economics and Physics, Christopher Pissarides and Donna Strickland.
At the CAS, the three Nobel Prize laureates are going to exchange expert opinions on the need to accelerate climate adaptation, and provide a scientific statement on the urgent need for climate adaptation as inputs on behalf of the global community.
The online summit, which is hosted by the Netherlands government and convenes a number of prominent figures from around the world, is aimed at helping achieve transformations required to create a world capable of adapting to climate.
The event will focus on securing new investments to ensure the ability of millions of small farmers to adapt to climate pressures on food production, in addition to discussing the measures to be taken and followed after recovering from the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
