Tawakkol Karman welcomes successful exchange of prisoners between Yemeni parties to the conflict
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, has welcomed the successful prisoner exchange between the parties to the conflict in Yemen, which was done based on the understandings sponsored by the United Nations.
In her official Twitter account, Tawakkol Karman expressed her hope that this step will be on the way to the ceasefire and putting an end to the conflict, the Saudi-Emirati intervention in Yemen and the Houthi militia coup against the Yemeni state.
“I also refuse to pull civilians into issues of conflict and violence, exploit them for the purpose of political blackmail or use them as leverage for political, material or military gains, as such thing is a war crime that is not subject to statute of limitations,” she added.
Mrs. Karman welcomed efforts by the Abductees Mothers Association, which has worked to track and document all cases of enforced disappearance and provide information and data on the names of the kidnapped and disappeared, appreciating its unceasing activities despite all the harassment by the Houthi militia and militias affiliated with Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
