Tawakkol Karman sends condolences on death of Saeb Erekat
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, has expressed deep condolences on the death of Saeb Erekat, Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Secretary-General and Chief Negotiator for Palestinians in the Middle East Peace Process.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Tawakkol Karman said: “I am deeply saddened by the death of the fighter Saeb Erekat. May God have mercy on him! I extend the sincerest condolences to our beloved Palestinian people, and to the Arab and Islamic nations on this great loss.”
With the death of Erekat, our nations have lost one of its most prominent fighters for liberation, wrote Tawakkol Karman on social media.
Mrs. Karman explained that she met Saeb Erekat on more than one occasion and that they were exchanging warm expressions of welcome at every time, noting that he had vitality, integrity and loyalty to his cause, which made him an exceptional character.
Mr. Erekat died in Jerusalem at the age of 65 after he tested positive for covid-19 in October.
