Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has condemned an explosion taken place in a funeral tent in Yemen’s province of Marib.
In a post published on her Facebook account today evening, Karman offered her deep condolences to al-Shaddady’s family whose members were killed in the blast, and to all Yemenis, condemning with the strongest term the terrorist bombing.
She also called for a transparent and independent investigation into this heinous crime and all crimes that have targeted civilians in Yemen.
Today’s explosion killed at least five people and injured 20 while mourners were attending a military commander’s funeral service in Yemen’s city of Marib, east of the capital Sana’a.
Among those killed in today’s blast was the tribal elder Salem al-Shadady, the older brother of commander of Yemen’s Third Military Region, Major-General Abdulrab al-Shadady who was killed last week while leading an offensive against the Iranian-backed Houthi militia.
