The way to respect rights and guarantee freedoms in Yemen passes only through the restoration of the Yemeni state and the building of peace and democracy based

on references previously approved by Yemenis, said the human rights activist and Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman in a speech at the University of California in Santa Barbara. 

Karman said that the great Yemeni peaceful revolution, which overthrew the dictator and went on to put Yemen in the path of profound change in the direction of a state where rights and liberties are guaranteed and started with a consensual transitional process, was subjected to treachery and conspiracies by the Houthi fascist militia allied with ousted president Ali Saleh with an unlimited support from Iran.

She held the fascist coup alliance fully responsible for the ongoing war and foreign intervention in Yemen as well as for collapse of the Yemeni state, adding that the militias have made the country being subjected to countless violations of human rights.
