The UAE is playing with fire in Yemen and will harvest nothing but failure and loss, said Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman, noting that if the UAE does not respect the options of the legitimate authority, its forces will be seen as occupiers.
In an article published today in the electronic newspaper Almawqea Post entitled "UAE’s Losing Bet in Yemen", Karman said: “as the UAE continues to undermine the entity of Yemen with premeditation, and insists on insulting the Yemenis and humiliating their dignity with such disregard, it plays with fire and will harvest nothing but failure and loss.”
She added that the UAE deals with representatives and officials of Yemen’s legitimate authority as subordinates who should only abide by what they are ordered without argument or hesitation.
The militia leaders are provided with enough money and weapons that make them owe allegiance to them so that areas liberated from the putschists can be divided into cantons, indicated Karman in the article.
But she stressed that all the UAE's attempts would fail because the Yemenis have options beyond the choice between bad and worse.
Mrs. Tawakkol Karman also called on the UAE to come back to reason, respect the sovereignty of Yemen and adhere to the declared goal of the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen.
