Nobel Peace Prize winner and human rights defender Tawakkol Karman gives a lecture on "Freedom of Speech and Human Rights in Yemen" held in Madrid on September 28.
The activity run by the president of the Guatemalan Women's Association, Mercedes Hernandez, at the social and cultural center of La Casa Encendida in Madrid will be attended by many women, political and social figures.
Mrs. Tawakkol Karman has become the visible face of the Arab Spring since it erupted in 2011 when she organized and led non-violent protests against the dictatorship which had ruled the nation with an iron fist for 33 years.
At the year of popular uprising’ outbreak, Karman’s efforts were crowned with the win of Nobel Peace Prize, becoming the first Arab woman to receive this global award.
