Nobel Peace laureate and human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, strongly criticizes the fact that Western governments have turned a deaf ear to what Arab dictatorships have been used to do against their peoples.
"Western governments should realize that their support for dictators is a big mistake because dictatorships produce terrorism and cause chaos and wars," stated Karman in an interview with Spanish newspaper.
She added that these governments have to wake up “because what is happening in the Arab countries will affect Europe”, noting such this has already already reached European capitals such as Paris, Barcelona and London.
She stressed that those who are behind such terrorist operations have nothing to do with Islam, but they are criminals who are directed remotely by dictators.
“Each dictator is a terrorist and each terrorist is a dictator. They feed each other, help each other and support each other,” Mrs. Karman emphasized.
Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman has said the international community would pay the price for ignoring issues of refugees fleeing dictatorial regimes’ repression in the Arab Spring region.
In an unrelated context, Karman expressed her deep anger over Europe’s disregard for the refugee crisis, pointing out that Europe has only accommodated 30% of the refugees.
"They punish the refugees, who are fleeing from crimes of dictators, terrorists and international coalition bombers instead of supporting and helping them.”
"Peace does not only mean ending the war, it also means putting an end to repression and injustice (…) We ask them to wake up because it is something that will affect all of humanity."
