Nobel Peace laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman stressed today that education is the only door that must remain open for societies to grow and develop.

This has come in a lecture on freedoms, human rights and the role of women in peacemaking at Cesar Vallejo University, a private Peruvian university located in Victor Larco district in Trujillo city, on the coast of La Libertad Region (northwestern Peru), 

The university, founded on November 12, 1991 by Cesar Acuña Peralta, was named after the Peruvian poet Cesar Vallejo.

"Education is the door that must remain open so that society can advance and achieve the desired progress," said Tawakkol Kerman.

“In order for a society to achieve progress and prosperity, education must remain open to all,” said Tawakkol Karman.

Karman stressed that the peaceful struggle achieves many things to societies and spares them troubles and armed conflicts.

Karman called for raising voices to protest against the bloodshed and stop killing of the innocent and civilians, adding that good things will replace bad things when in case people speak loudly against injustice. 

She regretted that the international community continues to support dictatorships in countries whose peoples looked for freedom.

"If the international community took firm action from the beginning, there would be no single dictator in the world today," she continued.

She concluded by saying that there are brave women behind every great nation.
