The Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman said Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates want to bring Yemen back to its pre-2011 tyrannical state,

calling on Yemenis to work with the international community to draw up a roadmap for what Yemenis have agreed to at the comprehensive national dialogue.

In an article entitled “Why the death of Saleh offers a chance for peace in Yemen” in the Washington post today, Karman pointed out the two Gulf states are imposing a form of collective punishment on Yemen for its success in overthrowing the dictator Saleh. 

"I am convinced that this effort will fail, since no one can break the will of peoples longing for freedom, dignity and democracy," she added. 

She called on Riyadh and Abu Dhabi to lift the blockade completely, stop their air strikes in Yemen, allow President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and his government to return to Aden and hand over all ports, airports, islands and coasts to the legitimate authority.

In addition, she stressed the need to disarm militias and armed groups in the liberated provinces and hand over their weapons to the national army.

She concluded by saying, "Most importantly, the Houthi militia must become a political entity that renounces violence. In fact, a successful peace plan in Yemen counts on that.
