Tawakkol Karman: It is not unexpected to arrest Egyptian former chief of staff under fascist regime like that of el-Sisi
The arrest of Egyptian presidential candidate Sami Annan was not unexpected under a fascist regime like that of Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, said the Nobel Peace laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman.
In this context, Karman, in a statement on her Facebook account, today launched a scratching attack on the Egyptian president el-Sisi, labelling him as a little Nazi.
“Egypt under el-Sisi would not see any democracy, peace or stability,” she added in the statement on social media.
Egyptian security forces on Tuesday arrested former chief of staff Lieutenant General Sami Annan on the grounds of announcing his candidacy for the presidency, his campaign coordinator said.
Only almost ten days after announcing his candidacy, Egypt’s former chief of staff was arrested Tuesday on charge of incitement against the armed forces and other charges.
The arrest was also confirmed by two of Annan’s aides, Mustapha al-Shall to the AP and Mahmoud Refaat on Twitter.
