The Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman today expressed deep condolences to the family of human rights activist Riham Al-Bader, who was killed today by a Houthi sniper in Yemen.

The activist Riham Bader Mohammed Abdul Wassa (known as Reham Al-Bader) was martyred while she was on humanitarian relief mission in east of Taiz province.

Mrs. Karman in a statement on social media described the incident as “a new tragedy”.

Riham’s killing by the fascist Houthi militia proves that Yemenis, especially women, leads a great struggle in the face of barbarism, Karman wrote on Twitter. 

She pointed out that Riham lived her short life as a firm believer in the February 11 Revolution in which she courageously participated in.

“Her heart today stopped beating, but her dreams of building a state of rights, freedoms and equal citizenship still beat,” she added 

The Nobel Laureate concluded her statement by saying: “We have lost one of the angles of Yemen and Taiz.”
