Tawakkol Karman calls on Yemeni government in exile to take decisive stance against UAE role in Yemen
The human rights activist and Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman has called on President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, to take a strong stance against the UAE because of its suspicious role in Yemen.
Karman in a statement posted on her Facebook account pointed out to the Yemeni Minister of Transport Al Jabwani’s critical remarks about Abu Dhabi’s support for terrorism and armed groups in his country, emphasizing such statement is not enough if not followed by stronger pronouncements by the president and his PM in this regard.
She addressed President Hadi and bin Daghr, saying: “It’s time to talk and reveal the fact that the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia and UAE has turned from a supporter for the Yemeni legitimacy to an occupier of Yemen.”
In a press conference yesterday, Yemeni Transport Minister Saleh Al Jabwani stated that the UAE supports terrorism and works on forming militias and armed armies and gangs, pointing out that al-Qaeda has never spread throughout southern areas as today.
Al Jabwani stressed the need to correct the relationship between the legitimate government and the UAE within the framework of common interests, warning that the government may find itself compelled to say that the partnership between Yemen and the coalition has derailed.
