The human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman today left for Japan on an official invitation from the Japanese government.

Tawakkol Karman, in a statement on her Facebook account, said she would also participate in a number of events.

Karman had met at her office in Istanbul, Turkey, the Japanese Consul General in Istanbul, who handed her an official invitation from the government to visit Japan.
