Tawakkol Kerman calls for new political leadership in Yemen
The human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman has suggested a new political leadership for Yemen instead of the current government-in-exile led by President Abed Rabbo Mansour in
case the latter is unable to return to the country to lead the liberation process against foreign trusteeship and the coup.
In a statement posted on social media, Karman said that Yemen’s exiled president and his government have become a mere tool used by the Riyadh and Abu Dhabi to completely take over, control and tear up the country.
The president will be able to restore the legitimacy only if he comes back to the country and leads the liberation process to get rid of the coup and the foreign hegemony, Karman explained.
Otherwise, she added, the Yemenis would be urgently required to agree on a national leadership to carry out these tasks.
