The Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman said that the UN blacklist of the Saudi-UAE-led Arab coalition, Iranian-backed Houthi militia and al-Qaeda as children's rights violators is “a very fair and just classification”.

"It was a fair and just decision to put the Houthis, al Qaeda, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on the UN blacklist for crimes against children in Yemen, she wrote on social media.  

The UN has added the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen to its annual list of shame for killing hundreds of children in 2016, which was rejected by Saudi Arabia that claimed it took effort to avoid civilian casualties.

In addition, the Iranian-backed Houthi militia, pro-government forces, and al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula were also all added to the UN list, which said they failed to protect children. 

The United Nations said 683 children were killed or injured in Saudi-led attacks that struck dozens of schools and hospitals in Yemen last year.
