Tawakkol Karman: Areas liberated from Houthis become under UAE-Saudi trusteeship
The Nobel Peace Prize winner and human rights advocate Tawakkol Karman said the areas where the Iranian-backed Houthi militia had been driven out have been under the hegemony, trusteeship and occupation of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
In a statement posted today on Twitter, Mrs. Karman noted that it is better to say “areas that are no longer controlled by the Houthis rather than “the liberated areas", in a clear reference to the Yemeni areas under the UAE and Saudi control.
Karman pointed out that it is unrealistic to describe such areas as “liberated” while in reality they are not under the control of the legitimate authority, indicating that the UAE and Saudi Arabia have come to occupy Yemen under the pretext to support the legitimacy.
