Tawakkol Karman reveals last message by Jamal Khashoggi
Almost about two weeks after his disappearance in his country’s Istanbul-based consulate, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman revealed her latest contact with the Saudi dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
According to Mrs. Karman’s revelation, Khashoggi sent a text message to Mrs. Karman, including some advice related to her activity as a Yemeni politician.
The message referred to has been recently shared on social media, and indicated that a conversation had taken place between Mrs. Karman and the Saudi journalist.
However, the Yemeni human rights activist did not give any further details about the discussion referred to in the letter.
Here is Khashoggi’s words as published by Mrs. Kaman:
My last message from Jamal Khashoggi
My dear sister,
Peace upon you,
Further to our talk yesterday, I hope you will tolerate my frankness. Yemen is full of politicians. When you become an angry politician, you only join a long line. But the source of your strength and distinction lies in the fact that you are a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. So, as I proposed yesterday, you should have to lead a campaign entitled: Stop the war, stop the coup, stop death and hunger! You will find supporters around the world and within Yemen. This, however, needs first to introduce the peace-loving Tawakkol Karman who distances herself from politics and its details, though your appeal is the mother and father of politics. I am ready to help you in this regard out of my love for my country and Yemen, and both are my homeland.
Let’s keep in touch!
