In an article in the American magazine, The Time, Karman said: Khashoggi's murder showed how Saudi Arabia spreads fear and buys the silence of the West
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Tawakkol Karman, said that what happened to the Saudi writer and media Jamal Khashoggi shows how Saudi Arabia is spreading fear and buying the silence of the West.
"What happened to my friend Jamal Khashoggi shows how Saudi Arabia is spreading fear and buying the silence of the West," said Karman in an article in The Time magazine. She said Khashoggi paid his life for his right and the people's right to express, saying his death was a great loss for the people of the Middle East.
"Jamal believed in reform. He did not say anything against the Saudi royal family. He did not encourage people to revolt against them. The only thing he was looking for was freedom of expression,” she said. "But Saudi Arabia still cannot accept that voice.”
Karman pointed out that Saudi Arabia has shown the world its policy in dealing with any kind of criticism, it is a state of terrorism. She stressed that the perpetrators must not escape justice.
