The Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman congratulated Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib for winning seats in the US House of Representatives.

Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib won two seats in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. They became the first Muslims to enter the Congress. 

In Michigan, the American-born Palestinian Rashida Tlaib, 42, won a seat in the House for the 13th constituency of the Democratic Party. In Minnesota, the American-born Somali Ilhan Omar won against the republican Jennifer Zielinski.

The victory of Democratic candidates Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib on the night of the midterm elections came when members of minority groups were given the opportunity to make their first electoral success.
