Karman, in Argentina, lectures on rights, freedoms and political participation of women
In a conference organized by the Argentine government entitled "Struggle, Legacy and the Future of our Rights," the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman delivered a lecture on the rights, freedoms and the struggle of women to participate in the political life in Rosario, the largest city in the province of Santa.
Tawakul Karman warned that authoritarian regimes in the Arab region are leading counter-revolutions against the Arab Spring because they fear repeating them in their countries.
She expressed concern about the situation of women in Argentina and the high rate of female murder.
"They cannot kill more women. It is something that should not happen. Human rights should be respected," she said. "We must support all women and men who are fighting against the killing of women."
Karman pointed out that the Argentine people are better able to understand the meaning of the suffering from dictatorship, they are those who defeated the military regimes and overcome them.
The governor of the city of Santa Fe Lefschitz welcomed the Nobel peace laureate Tawakkol Karman as a young human rights activist from Yemen, the country that is like other countries suffering the consequences of civil war, famine, human rights violations, discrimination and violence against women. .
"The Santa conference session, which brings together thinkers from Argentina and the Aryan countries, can help us think about the reality from a different perspective," Lefschitz said.
"These lectures present attempts and draw people's attention to freedom and expose attempts by tyrants to enslave them," he said.
The "Santa" conference is named by internationally recognized intellectual and political figures and aims to identify the social dilemmas facing the contemporary world, and the innovative visions and strategies to confront them.
Argentinian professor of anthropology, Rita Sigato, and 2000 student leaders and civil society activists attended the conference.
