The Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Tawakkol Karman, scoffed at the nomination of Abdelaziz Bouteflika for the presidential elections, saying that he did not know he was a candidate for a new presidential term.

"Almost for six years ago, he did not address his people with a single word, after he lost his ability to speak and move," said Karman on Twitter. "However, he will be elected to a new presidential term in a great country like Algeria.”

Karman added: "Abdelaziz Bouteflika does not know that he is a candidate for a new presidency of Algeria, and he will not know."
