Tawakkol Karman condemns execution of 9 young Egyptians and blames international community for silence on Sisi
The human rights activist and Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman has strongly condemned Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's regime for execution of nine young Egyptians accused of allegedly assassinating former Attorney General Hisham Barakat, blaming the international community for the silence on “the coup and crimes of Sisi”.
"Sissi today executed nine of Egypt's pure youth. This Sisi is not only the sin of treachery UAE and Saudi Arabia, but also of the whole world that blessed and still keeps silent on his coup and crimes," Mrs. Karman wrote on her official account on Twitter.
She added, "Perhaps soon we will certainly celebrate the waited revolution of our loved ones in Najd and Hejaz, who will bring down the Kingdom of Darkness and establish instead the state of citizenship, rights and freedoms, and then the entire region, from the ocean to the Gulf, will live in peace and stability”.
According to Egyptian media, nine young men were executed this morning for the murder of Hisham Barakat, Egypt’s former public prosecutor, who was assassinated when a car bomb struck his vehicle in 2015.
The nine executed young men are as follows: Ahmed Taha, Abu Al Qasim Ahmed, Ahmad Jamal Hijazi, Mahmoud Al Ahmadi, Abu Bakr Al Sayed, Abdul Rahman Sulaiman, , Ahmed Mahrous Sayed, and Islam Muhammad.
