The Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman congratulated the success of the local elections in Turkey, stressing that Turkey proved once again that its democracy is firmly established, not a fraud, not an overwhelming majority.

"The results are close, and one hour after the announcement of the result everyone will go to work to resume their normal lives, and everyone will be prepared, with an absolute freedom, for a new round," said Karman on her official Facebook page.

Karman added: "You have presented a model that we need for very much in our stricken region where democratic projects are absent.

Karman continued: “The Turkish opposition parties have witnessed that elections were fair. No one complains about fraud or using public money for the interest of the ruling party.”

Karman said that their testimony is the most important. “Do not cry haters of Turkey, congratulations Turkey, and thank you Turkey,” she added.
