Karman welcomes the resignation of Ben Auf from the presidency of the Sudanese Military Council
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman welcomed the resignation of Sudan's Military Council president Awad bin Auf, saying that handing over power to a civilian transitional government is the first demand of the Sudanese public.
"With his resignation, Awad bin Auf, head of the Sudanese Military Council, is the first president of a military coup that falls within one day," Karman said in her official account on Twitter.
"The Sudanese people are continued in their revolution and the rebellious masses will not leave the squares,” she said.
Karman stressed that the handover of power to a civilian transitional government is the first demand of the masses now.
