The Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Tawakkul Karman, attributed the death of "Syrian Revolutionary Guard" Abdel Basset Al-Sarwat, praising his role and struggle for freedom and confronting Bashar al-Assad's regime.
Syrian football player Abdul-Basset al-Sarwat, who became a symbol of the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad's regime, died on June 8 due to wounds he sustained in clashes with al-Assad's forces in northwestern Syria.
"Abdel-Bassat al-Sarwat passed away after he faced the most oppressive regimes, and if he comes back to life, he will do the same," Karman said on her official Facebook page.
"The overthrow of a fascist regime such as that of Bashar al-Assad is a great act by all standards," she said, noting that Abdel-Basset understood this fact, so he made, with his vote and courage, a history that future generations would not forget who had been martyred in defense of their freedom.
Karman expressed her sincere condolences to Sarwat's mother, his family and the Syrian people, who are struggling for their freedom and dignity with a firm will.
