Karman calls on Hamdouk to immediately withdraw Sudanese forces from Yemen
ISTANBUL (Anadol) - Nobel peace laureate Tawakkol Karman congratulated Abdullah Hamdouk, the prime minister of Sudan, before calling on him to withdraw his troops from Yemen "urgently".
"I congratulate you with the confidence of the forces of the revolution and change in Sudan and the celebration of the Sudanese as president of their transitional government," Tawakkol Karman said in an open letter through Anatolia on Thursday.
Kerman expressed her confidence in being "the right man in the right place, and I wish you and all the people of our Yemeni people success in the performance of your duties in the service of the Sudanese people."
She called on Kerman Hamdouk to work "urgently" to withdraw his country's forces from Yemen.
Karma stressed that "this is not your war, continued participation in the war undermines the friendly relationship between the two brotherly Sudanese and Yemeni people."
Kerman added, "The new Sudan is not appropriate for him but to distance himself from this war, which goes away in the destruction of our people and fragmentation and undermine the national entity."
Hamdouk, on Wednesday evening, was sworn in as head of the Sudanese government, during the transition period, which lasts 39 months and ends with elections.
The head of the Sudanese Transitional Military Council (before the dissolution and the formation of the sovereign council), Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, has confirmed that his country's forces remain in Yemen because they are within the "agreement" with the Saudi-UAE alliance.
Sudan has been involved in the Yemen-led war in Saudi Arabia and the UAE since March 2015. Sudan has not announced the number of its troops involved, but has announced its willingness to send 6,000 troops.
