Tawakkol Karman makes fun of Saudi ban on marriage below 18
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has made fun of the Saudi decision to ban marriage under the age of 18 after a century-long insistence on child marriage.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Tawakkol Karman said: “The kingdom of darkness has forcibly placed a ban on the marriage under the age of 18 after a century of religious discourse criminalizing and prohibiting any attempt to ban it.
“How will they justify their previous fatwas that criminalized a minimum legal marriage age of 18?” Karman wondered.
The Nobel laureate noted that no one has ever misused religion like the Kingdom of Darkness has done.
