Tawakkol Karman recalls throes of February Revolution
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, said that this day in 2011 marks the first protest seeking the overthrow of Ali Abdullah Saleh’s corrupt, failed and authoritarian regime.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Tawakkol Karman added by saying: “We took to the streets in order to overthrow that regime, hoping to establish a modern civil state, and we have brought it down.”
Our struggle will continue until our desired state will be established, wrote Karman.
She has also called for glory to those rejecting tyranny and wrongful behavior of regimes.
By taking to streets, we have caused a great tsunami that has had major implications not only in Yemen but also in the region and around the world, she added.
