Tawakkol Karman Foundation holds global conference on post-war Yemen
Tawakkol Karman Foundation is organizing a global conference entitled "Post-war Yemen… A forward-looking Vision", scheduled to hold on March 7, 2020 in Istanbul with the participation of international personalities, researchers and activists.
The executive director of Tawakkol Kerman Foundation, Misk Al-Junaid, said that the conference includes three discussion panels: possible scenarios for the end of the war, the form of the State and the system of government given the imagined end of the existing conflict, the future of regional and international influence in post-war Yemen, and post-war priorities (transitional justice as an entry point to end conflict & reconstruction between political and legal responsibility).
Mrs. Al-Junaid explained that the Foundation seeks, through the conference, to explore conflict repercussions and possible scenarios related to the form of the State in Yemen and of its political system, as well as the regional influence in Yemen and its relationship to regional and global interests in light of the war outcome.
She also pointed out that the conference comes after five years of war taking place in Yemen to address the resulting alliances and policies that have further complicated the political and military scenes, stressing that the ongoing conflict could have dire consequences, especially on the humanitarian situation and pose threat to lives of millions.
Finally, she stated that Tawakkol Karman Foundation expects that the conference will contribute to presenting opinions and ideas that help to understand the Yemeni conflict and predict its future.
